Why is cultural arts programming so important to adults and retired adults?

For Adults
Our Adult programs take into consideration the lack of time and increased responsibilities that all adults face everyday without forgetting that many adults still crave the ability to enrich their lives with dance, music, the visual arts, martial arts, chess or learning a new language.  Some adults didn't get the chance to partake in these classes when they were young or if they did, now want the chance to incorporate the joy it brought into their lives as a child.  The cultural arts enhances our lives on many levels and Door to the Arts simplifies the integration of these classes into our adult lives economically and practically at locations where adults already are due to their work or children's activities.

For Retired Adults
As our population ages the need for critical thinking and continued exercising of the brain is crucial for a healthy and vibrant retirement.  Seniors need just as much stimulation from our varied class choices as children do in order to maintain their memory, speech and recognition skills acute and working properly.  Studies show that seniors whose brains and bodies are not exercised or challenged have a greater tendency to develop different levels of Depression and the brain has a higher chance of deteriorating due to illnesses such as Dementia or Alzheimer's making ones retirement years less fulfilling.  All of our courses offer seniors the chance to learn a new skill, continue a lifelong love of the arts or explore a language or dance they have always wanted to learn while keeping their brains young and active.
