Spring: Visual Arts

Meet The Executive Director

VIVIAN ESCRIBANO

Vivian Escribano  is a licensed attorney in Miami, Florida who has always enjoyed, followed and combined the cultural arts with any work she was doing.  At 17, she had her own bilingual two page section in Selecta Magazine called "Juventud Selecta" where she wrote for two years about youth in our South Florida community excelling in the Arts or Sports.  She received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami, achieving the Dean's List award every semester for her major of Finance and International Marketing at UM's Business School.  During her time at the University of Miami she worked for the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority (MSEA), the County organization that ran the original Miami Arena and brought the NHL's hockey team, the Florida Panthers, to South Florida in addition to many other entertainment and art shows for exhibition at the arena.  She also worked as a paralegal in Greenberg Traurig's Investment Banking Department.  She received a Juris Doctorate Degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, receiving the Book Award for Civil Procedure and Trial Skills.  She went on to serve as an Assistant State Attorney after having interned for two summers at the ASA's office.  After gaining the trial skills she desired, she left to start her own practice which included Entertainment and Sports Law, Intellectual Property, and Civil Litigation.    She was able to combine the trial litigation she loved together with the Arts through working with several artists on copyrights and trademarks in addition to movie contracts and book publishing rights. She has also worked as an investment banker with Dain Rauscher and the Royal Bank of Canada.
Her family, through her mother especially, has always instilled in her the sense of importance of learning the arts alongside all the other formal school curriculums.  Music was always a part of her family life with season tickets to the Greater Miami Opera being a standard monthlyTuesday night event during Opera Season.   Her mother is one of the Founding Members of the Young Patronesses of the Opera, an organization that raises funds to give yearly grants to young artists that are chosen for their exceptional operatic skills so they can intern in the best opera houses across the world and perfect their craft.  Backstage visits with opera stars was a common event and one that inspired her emotionally and instinctually to always remain involved with the arts.  As the Founding President of the Amigos del Museo Cubano (Friends of the Cuban Museum), her mother fundraised and acquired the money necessary to buy the first property to officially open Miami's Cuban Museum.  A large part of her childhood was spent in art studios, galleries, museums and often times garages of famous Cuban and Latin American Artists meeting with and experiencing firsthand the passion and creativity of these extraordinary artists.  The ability to have taken ballet classes, spanish dance classes, guitar, piano and painting classes as a child was an unforgettable privilege and fostered a love of the arts that Vivian wants to be able to spread and teach to other children.  Through extensive travel with her family, Vivian believes that Art and culture should never be left behind in the development of a child's, student's, or adult's education.  Music, Dance and Painting are truly an international language and the glue that binds all of our cultures together.
